A SUDDEN OBSTACLE

The opening of Don Don Donki, the famous 24-hour Japanese discount supermart, proved to be a sudden obstacle for Liang Court and its anchor tenant, MEIDI-YA. 

 

According to Hsiao Hsiao, a waitress at Pecori Japanese Egg Restaurant, MEIDI-YA has witnessed a fall in shopper traffic since Don Don Donki opened in Singapore. 

 

However, some shopkeepers feel that MEIDI-YA is unique as it provides a wider range of fresh food and household items.

 

"When I go to Meidiya I do feel at home as if I’m back in Japan! Japanese food, Japanese products that I can’t get anywhere else."
